MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL BOAT & LIFESTYLE FESTIVAL - 5th to 7th February 2010

Fishing, kayaking, water ski demonstrations, live music and dance lessons are just some of the activities on offer at next month's Melbourne International Boat & Lifestyle Festival.

Following its success from last year, the Fishing Getaways BIA Bream Classic will stage the first round of its fishing competition over the weekend of the Festival.

The fishing competition will be just one of many activities on offer at the three day Boat & Lifestyle Festival at Docklands from 5 to 7 February.

Fifty boats are expected to take part in the fishing competition in the waters of the Yarra and Maribyrnong Rivers and Port Phillip Bay before reporting back to the main stage at Waterfront City each day for weigh in.

Places are still available for the competition at a cost of $200 per team, and registrations can be made by logging onto www.vicbreamclassics.com.au.

For a taste of boating in something special, there will free kayaking throughout the weekend of the Festival as well as dragon boat rides on Saturday February 6.

There will also be water ski demonstrations at 11am and 2pm daily.

Special attractions on the main stage include a free dance class on Saturday 5 February for people who want to learn the signature dance from a favorite movie, plus live music from 2pm each day of the Festival.

Getting to Docklands has never been easier, with five tram services including the free City Circle Tram from Flinders, Spring or LaTrobe streets; Route 30 via LaTrobe Street; Route 48 via Collins Street; Route 70 along Harbour Esplanade and Docklands Drive; and Route 86 via Bourke Street.

Melbourne International Boat & Lifestyle Festival is organised by the Boating Industry Association of Victoria (BIA) and runs from Friday 5 February to Sunday 7 February, 2010. Opening hours are 10am to 6pm daily except Friday, when the show closes at 8pm.

Tickets to the on-water show are just $15 for adults and $8 for children under 16 and concession holders, and families of up to 2 adults and 3 children are $35.
